AMRIT Retail Pharmacy Stores

BACKGROUND 

With the objective to reduce the out-of-pocket expenditure especially through pharmacies, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Govt. of India had come up with a novel initiative of, a network of retail pharmacies – AMRIT across the country to make available and accessible all drugs, implants, Surgicals, disposables at highly affordable prices.

ABOUT AMRIT

AMRIT stands for Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment. AMRIT retail pharmacy network offers more than 6500 drugs, implants, surgical disposables and other consumables at average discounts up to 50% of Maximum Retail Price (MRP).

AMRIT REACH

• The first outlet was inaugurated on 15th November 2015 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi.
•  Over the last 9 years, there are 220 AMRIT outlets across 29 states/ UT’s in India.

• Total Maximum Retail Price Value  -13,104.96 crores INR
• Total Saving to the patients -6452.80 crores INR
• Total number of patients served -118.52 lakhs INR

• Availability of generic and lifesaving branded drugs under one roof reduces prescsription bouncing.
• Patients need not go to private chemists who charge on Maximum Retail Price.
• Rates offered for all types of drugs and surgical disposables are highly economical and savings of upto 50% to the patients.
• In case of short supply of Essential Drugs from the free dispensing pharmacies, hospitals do local purchases from the approved vendors on a higher cost. AMRIT supplies these items at much lower rates.
• AAMRIT reflects Govt. of India’s strong commitment to reduce the cost of treatment which benefits lakhs of patients.

AMRIT OUTLET

• Proven, Scalable and Replicable model.
• Retail outlets are opened in partnership with both Central Govt. and State Govt. medical institutions.
• Caters to both Cash and Credit customers
• Working 9.30 AM to 6.30 PM during weekdays or 24x7 or during timings convenient as required by the Partner Institution/officials.
• Holidays as applicable to the institution or directed by the state government would be declared a holiday for AMRIT Pharmacy also.
